This was a bug in how the output channels are set up when using the Tk console... It is fixed in the current sources on the macosx branch. You can work around it by just using "puts" rather than "puts stdout", or get the new sources and build them. I will do another build sometime soon, but I want to figure out extension building issues, and I haven't had much time to work on this for the past couple of weeks...
