Daniel,

I moved a copy the 8.3.4 shell into the folder with my 8.3.2 installation
and launched it from there - it worked fine.

Clearly, there is a difference in the libraries that ship with
8.3.4 vs 8.3.2, but I'm way out of my depth here.
