I finally tracked this problem down to a issue between Logitech Mouseware v4.0.2 and Tcl 8.3.3. While I'm far from an expert, I suspect the source of the problem is the new release of the Mouseware driver and not with Tcl 8.3.3. Sorry to have troubled the group with what is apparently a non-Tcl issue; thanks to Mats for taking the time to try to duplicate the problem. (If someone is successfully using the most recent release of Mouseware, I would appreciate hearing about it.)
