[MACTCL] Mac Menubutton - not sticking

I've dredged the archives for some insight into this problem with no
luck and even (finally) tracked down the Mac Tcl FAQ.  I was certain I
had seen something like this before in either this list or comp.lang.tcl
but I couldn't locate a reference;  sorry if this has been discussed
before...

I am having trouble getting my menubutton lists to 'stick'.  They appear
and then immediately disappear.  For what  it is worth, I am using
Tcl/Tk 8.3.3, Mac OS 9.1 on a G4/450 Blue Tower.

I spent a day or so trying to track things down in my code, but then
when I ran Widget Demos/menubutton  I got the same result.  Any insight
into this would be greatly appreciated!
