[MACTCL] general question: MacTCL, Tix

Hello MacTCLers,  Can anyone provide some general insight into the =
maturity of the MacTCL project?  I'd like to embark on a multiplatform =
development project using Tix/TclTk for GUI, and C/C++ for core coding.  =
Has anyone built Tix (or some other widget library) on the Mac?  Are =
standard Tcl/Tk projects typically directly portable to MacTcl?  Can =
compact executables (sensu embedded Tcl/Tk) be built for the Mac?

Any opinions or information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,
