Okay, mystery solved (I believe). Here is a webpage that describes what is going on and how to fix it. Apparently, the behavior is one introduced in Lion and is intentional. Good news is that it is modifiable. However, in the 8.5.15 version, holding down any printable key, will only insert a single key. Interestingly, if I hold the key down, release it and then hit the backspace character, it takes a few backspace keystrokes before the character is actually deleted. Anyone know why this is occurring and how I can get the old behavior back? > > I see this with some keys (b, r) and not with others (e, a). I'm not > sure what is causing it.
