[MACTCL] Top-level resizing grip on Mac

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the resizing grip "square" in toplevel windows on the Mac?  Unfortunately, this widget is placed above anything that I have packed in the lower right-hand corner of the window, and, quite frankly, it's pretty ugly compared to all other (non-Tk) windows found in Mac OSX.

Any help would be appreciated.
