That crash looks suspiciously like one that was posted and fixed here on the list a month or so ago.  (And prompted the whole merge and discussion we are having now.)  Are you testing against latest fossil?  Also when posting the bug reports, please run a debug-built Tcl/Tk if you can, so that files and line numbers will show up in the trace.
