Well lets not get too far off topic. I think we can agree that: 1) X11 isn't a great solution, I'm an engineer, come from a unix/X11 background and I don't like the experience at all either as a programmer or a user. 2) Tk-Carbon is a dead end. Let's not waste any more time on it. So I think what Kevin meant by "viable" is that the port is basically very solid and is probably the best starting place to get Tk going again on osx. You can use it to make osx apps, just as long as they are about as simple as the Tk widget demo. Other than the thread on the sourceforge bug tracker that Adrian pointed out earlier, does anyone have any more information on topic of the event loop issues? Even previous attempts that didn't work out might have discovered useful information. - James |
