It's also massively more complicated to implement and document. Since
I'm the maintainer of the relevant area, I think those sorts of issues
are important!

You seem to be acting under a misunderstanding about the difference
between 8.6b1 and 8.6.0. It is the policy of the TCT and Maintainers
that new features not be introduced to the API during the beta or
release parts of the cycle.
