Hmm, ok, so it isn't.   I envisioned it to be.

I made a distinction between actual error codes (like ENOENT) and
sub-subsystem specification. I now see that such a distinction 
doesn't really make sense.

But with all my examples being voided, I still have a bad feeling
about applying text-operations on lists. I guess, I'll have to live
with it.
