Category: 03. [*button] and [label] Group: obsolete: 8.5.1 >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Werner Wenzel (werner_wenzel) Assigned to: Jeffrey Hobbs (hobbs) Summary: A button doesn't flash on Windows. Initial Comment: Cf. [ 1595773 ] button flash causes tcl to fail on Windows This all is still true on Windows XP. E. g.: button .b1 -text Hello -underline 0 button .b2 -text World -underline 0 bind . <Key-h> {.b1 flash; .b1 invoke} bind . <Key-w> {.b2 flash; .b2 invoke} pack .b1 .b2 (the example from the documentation) doesn't work: no flashing. Flash is probably not what anyone needs anyway - very windows 2/athena widgets. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Werner Wenzel (werner_wenzel) Date: 2008-04-04 16:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1194950 Originator: YES The comment from suchenwi (2008-04-04 15:48) holds. That means: 1. There is just a minuscule bug in the implementation: It doesn't make much sense if the defaults of the various color options are the same. 2. There is a major bug in the documentation: The above example derives from the original documentation and as such it simply doesn't work. 3. There is a personal thought of mine: I've read the "FriendlyM" but I'm new to Tcl/Tk. What can I expect from a language if its authentic documentation or the provided examples resp., are misleading? Werner ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: suchenwi (suchenwi) Date: 2008-04-04 14:48 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1478027 Originator: NO Step 1: RTFriendlyM - "pathName flash Flash the button. This is accomplished by redisplaying the button several times, alternating between active and normal colors." Step 2: See what those colors are - .b configure ... -activebackground activeBackground Foreground SystemButtonFace SystemButtonFace ... -background background Background SystemButtonFace SystemButtonFace So changing between twice the same color makes no big impression. Step 3: .b configure -activebackground red -background green .b flash :^) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=112997&aid=1926223&group_id=12997 |
