Not sure if anyone has responded to this inquiry yet, but I set the state of the text widget to the normal state, modify the text box, then set the state back to the disabled state.  From a user perspective, the text box always appears to be disabled.

This is not the case on Windows and Xorg.

Does anyone know a work around beside leaving the widget "-state normal" ?
