To get a fast s3 resume, just add a parameter in grub.cfg to tboot command line loglvl=none

For example:
Multiboot2 /boot.tboot.gz /boot/tboot.gz loglvl=none logging=serial,memory

Adding to Ross's case: on a Lenovo x201 Tablet, I am finding exactly the same symptom: tboot 1.8.3 is *very* slow on resume from S3. (This was not a problem with tboot 1.8.1.)

No but I don't see how that would make a difference. The problem is in
the compression code in tboot (and the potential overflow too). See the
other thread I started - I tried to be as clear as possible.
