Boot setups

boot setups (1)
Linux Scripts

By focusing on just adding or dropping programs, the speed penalties imposed for being able to do a lot more tasks than you actually intent on doing at that given time are eliminated.

For example if you know before you boot up your machine that you'll need audio/video capability with mpv, but don't need to be able to write letters -with abiword-, ... you can just start the flavor that has mpv but not abiword.

One should note that the amount of boot setups you'll be able to start will not allow you to drop all programs you won't need for that session; instead, we'll just have boot seyups that eliminate or add the most heavy ones (and which have dependencies that don't overlap much). That way, the list of boot setups is short (so you don't need to spend much time figuring out what boot setup you best use for that particular session), and the speed reduction won't be reduced much by having just a little more programs than what you need for that session.
