tawkback version 0.7.0 (alpha) released

tawkback provides shell scripts that automate the most common backup tasks performed with tar and find. Release 0.7.0 adds network support and archive encryption to facilitate offsite backups.

The tawkback project aims to provide, once and for all, generalized scripts that do backups with tar and find. To achieve the reliability expected of a backup system, the best script coding practices are used and functionality is delegated to existing utilities whenever possible.

When backups are spread among several possibly large archives, restores with plain tar can be tedious, particularly if the archives must be searched for one file. tawkback's restore script, tbr, simplifies this with a browseable view of available files taken from a database maintained by the backup script.

The latest addition of network and encryption support allow off-site backup with data security.
