It would be great to be able to filter globally. For example, When doing a weekly review in the GTD system, you check that all active projects have at least one Next Action (Status) task. Right now I click on each folder and scan all of its task for any next action tasks. Sorting by Status helps, but there can be a lot of clutter in any given folder to have to wade through.
If a global filter on Next Action Status was available, then each folder clicked on would show just those tasks with a Next Action Status.
The same filter would apply to, say, Contexts. When I'm at Home, for example, trying to figure out what to work on next, I only want to see Next Action Tasks.
Ideally, you could use your existing Task Searcher Filter with an option to apply it globally. A bonus would be that the count badges would also reflect the filter results too. Then one could just scan folders for zero count and quickly focus on those folders needing attention.
There's many more ways to use this global filter ability than I've outlined that are equally useful. Please consider looking into adding this ability
There's an Android app, no longer in active development, called GotToDo, that does this and it's terrific. I've looked at just about all the task management apps for Windows and nobobdy seems to be doing this. It really is a glaring deficiency and it's amazing other users aren't asking for this.
