Install Instructions for Fedora 11 (or later)

For reasons not yet determined, if you try to install the Task Coach Fedora rpm from the graphical user interface, the following error occurs: "The name org.freedesktop.PackageKit was not provided by any .service files". However, installing the rpm from the command line does work.

  • Download the rpm package
  • Open a terminal window
  • Become root and go to the directory where you placed the Task Coach rpm file.
  • Execute the following command:
    yum install --nogpgcheck taskcoach-x.x.x-x.fc11.noarch.rpm
The file name will vary according to the version of TC being installed.

The installation will place a menu entry under Applications->Office. Templates and TaskCoach.ini will be found in the user home directory in the directory .TaskCoach.

Below shows the installation of TC on a Fedora 16 machine through the command prompt and where the user can find and run TC.
