Hi there,

I use version 1.4.6 and today i have noticed all of my times logged for July have disappeared. It goes direct from June 28th to Today July 31st.

I have tried "manage backups" but it only has the current time in there and the data for July is all still missing.

Is there ANY way i can get this back? as i use it to track my working time and bill clients.

Thanks for your help,

Leanne

my sympathies! What I do personally is keep my task coach file in a synced directory (like DropBox) so that it is regularly backed up that way as well as the built-in backup.

I noticed once that backups were not shown because the window to select them was too small and extending it let me see more backups. I don't expect that is your situation though.

If you have no other backup that you do otherwise, then I'm not sure if the data can be retrieved. Hard to know what happened.

Besides having auto-save on and keeping files in a synced backup directory, you can close and re-open Task Coach every now and then to make sure things are saving right and have some other backup routine of the files that you set up

    Hi Leanne.
This happened to me as well a few times, since my Taskcoach file was quite big and messy.
Since then I have learned two things:
    - Do not keep TaskCoach open for more than a few hours. Restart it regularly.
    - Always store the Taskcoach file in Onedrive (or Dropbox), and thanks to that you easily restore some previous version from the cloud (as mentioned by Aaron).
    - If you are not a fan of cloud for any reason, then backup the file manually on regular basis.
    - I have added high-priority cyclic tasks "Restart the taskcoach" a few times per day. Thanks to that, I'm 100% sure now that I won't lose more than a few hours of data in case of an unexpected crash.
    - Yes, Taskcoach is quite crashy. But I wasn't able to find any other tool on the market that suits my needs more than this one :)

btw, an effort was started last year to finally port Task Coach to Python3, see https://github.com/taskcoach/taskcoach

If that can get finished, then development and bug-fixing could be possible again.

Please feel free to encourage that progress or recruit anyone qualified to help
