I'm running the last version : Version 1.4.6, April 27, 2019
Portable version.
Hi Aaron ,
Let me report an old issue.
Always I try to adjuste the layout of my views like the attachment, when I reopen the taskcoach, they messup the layout.
I notice this occur only when the "Effot for selects task" is enabled..
what is the mess up that happens?

Weird. I don't know. It's a bug, but I can't explain it.
Try some other variations that might usable for you? Maybe try putting the two sorts of efforts as tabs on the same pane?
Anyway, you could remove the .ini file (or rename) and then try to set the layout again and close Task Coach so it saves a new .ini and maybe that will help

Hi Aaron,
Sorry for the delay to answer.
I tried everything and nothing is working.
Is very weird, as I going using taskcoach, appear they become more and more instable.
Now the effort view, constantly stop to update. I start a effort and they don't show in the view, I need to close the view and open it again to update or open the task propeties and check there on the effort tab.
Also when I close the tsk (file -> close) , all data keep on the screen, only the name vanish from the top bar...
I think is relationed to my tsk file since keep it for the last 8 yrs , just cleaning the efforts.
I already tried to export the Tasks to import it more clean to a new tsk file, but I have no success.
Have any tip about how to do that?
I didn't see any verification that you tried renaming or deleting the .ini file. None of the setup of the UI is in the .tsk file. That file only has the content of the tasks. Please confirm that you have cleared the .ini file as I mentioned above while Task Coach is closed and then start task coach after that.
Hi Aaron,
Sorry, I'm was not clear.
What I mean is that I tried remove the .ini files , remove the .delta files... and the problem keep occurring.
I'm looking a way to clean any dirty data from my .tsk file, because even when I remove all efforts, the problem still happen.
I tried copy the tasks-by-task using ctrl-c / ctrl-v beteween an old and new tsk files, however the problem still happens on the new tsk , after copy few tasks.
Then I open a tsk file with vim editor to look inside and notice a situation very wierd.
A effort I've created yesterday was saved as attachament from a task with no relation ...
Appear the application mess the place saved.
Any tips?

I'm going to reassign to Jerome in case he can help. I'll still keep tabs on this.
Can you try exporting an anonymous version of the Task File (Under Help > Anonymize) and attaching it here so I or Jerome can try to see if we can reproduce the problem?
Also, do you get a problem if you just start a new Task file from scratch?
Hi Aaron, Jerome ,
Sorry for the delay to answer here.
I exported as anonymous version, reproduce the problem with it.
Recorded my screen and saved as gif, you can watch here: https://i.imgur.com/dUwMMM2.gif
(during the process I used the ctrl-e to register an effort).
Also , I attached the .ini files.
Just remmembering , I'm using the portable version. I get this ini inside of the Data\settings folder.
About start a new Task file from scratch , yes and no.
I've created a new task file , however I have a lot of tasks, then I copied then using ctrl-c/ctrl-v from the old file to the new one .
I don't tried to recreate all tasks manually.
So, realizing that you were using the portable version, did you clear the portable .ini with Task Coach closed and try just starting again with a fresh .ini and seeing if that solves the whole issue? I would suspect that should solve it.
As far as making a new task file, I meant just to see if you could reproduce the issue with a small new tsk file. And if not, you could try using copy/paste within the new file to get to a large quantity of tasks or just make a large quantity. I want to know if you have any issues when you are not working with any of the data from the old task file.
Yes, I try several times, clear the .ini files , remove the "Data" folder and everything else inside. The problem always keep occurring.
I did a quick test now , with a fresh new tsk .
before, I disabled the "autosave" on preferences.
With the views "effort" and "effort for selected task" open.
Create 3 tasks, 1 sub task, several efforts...
then I save the file and continue to add efforts.
at certain moment they stop to update the effort view .
when I pressed the ctrl-s to save , they update.
however , I didn't able to reproduce again.
With my tsk files, were I have several tasks and subtasks , the problem occur very fast, only with few minutes using it.
I thinking there is some parameter , propreties active in some task where is messing everything.
Man...
I'm sorry, I just notice now , I messing the ticket , with different problems...
I forgot this ticket is about the "effort for selected task" and start to include other problems here.
I became to get a lot of problem with the app , I forgot to keep the focus on the problem on this ticket only.
Should I open other ticket about this problem of the IDE where they not update?
I'm sorry about that.
