Hi,
I'm using taskcoach Version 1.4.6. on windows 10 (64)
When I type a link in the description flied of a task, for example https://www.taskcoach.org/,
and then click on that link nothing happens.
I used the same version of taskcoach (1.4.6) with Windows 7 (64) up to end of 2019.
On Windows 7 clicking on a link in the description of a task opens that link in the default browers (in my case firefox) and shows the related web page.

By the way, when I click on "Search for updates" there is a error message popping up saying "URLError: <urlopen <span="" error="">[Errno 11001] getaddrinfo failed>"</urlopen>

In issue #391 Nick Ruddle reported a similar problem, but with an older version. Don't know if these two issues have something in common.

Thanks

I don't use Windows myself, and this is probably going to end up in the giant list of stuff that won't get fixed until the hopeful some glorious day when somehow someone (Jerome most likely, but help is welcome) gets Task Coach moved to Python3 and maybe beyond that to Qt.

I just wanted to mention that someone did see your support request. Sorry TC isn't better maintained right now.

Yes. Thank you for that comment.
I'm not a Windows fan as well and use linux most of the time.
But anyway, I'm forced to use it for my job.
Blaming that behavior to NOT using python 3 ?
    Hmmm ...
But why is ist working with Win7?
I would more suspect the Microsoft guys having changed some internals with Win8 or Win10.
This could be tricky to find.
My hope was, that we have some Windows guys here in this community that knows a simple trick to tweak the registry or something like this.

But now I think the only way to get on is to dive into the code.
Mabye the "Search for updates" issue with that error message is the best things to start with.

More and more new systems do not support Python2, and because Python2 and the old frameworks Task Coach uses are themselves no longer getting updated, they aren't getting changed to adapt to changes in Windows. If this is something that would need a change in the libraries, then Task Coach won't get the fix because of using outdated libraries.

There very well might be something in Task Coach to fix. Bug-fixing attention is limited now also because nobody is doing a lot on the development, and when Jerome has much time, hopefully it will focus on Python3 etc., so it's more just the competition for limited time.

We certainly invite anyone to look into the code and fix things, patches are welcome!
