#313 Trouble installing 1.3.21 and 1.3.22

juan c

Thanks for a great product. I have been using it for quite a while and, unlike many similar products, TaskCoach works for me.

No problem with Version 1.3.20. However, 1.3.21 and 1.3.22 will not start after installation. There are no errors during installation. Everything is fine if I reinstall 1.3.20. My PC is running Windows XP Pro (SP3) 32-bit. I am attaching TaskCoach.exe.log from the 1.3.22 attempt.

sorry for the trouble, we'll look into this ASAP.
Could you try temporarily moving your .ini file to see if that is related to the problem?
    see https://answers.launchpad.net/taskcoach/+faq/1061

Thanks for reporting to us and thanks for your patience

Yes, looks like you changed the icon for some task statuses but it isn't included at the right size for your toolbar (previously the toolbar icon didn't follow the preferences). Deleting your .ini file will solve this unless you change the icon again. I'll fix this ASAP.

I can't find any icon which does not have the required size. Could you send me your TaskCoach.ini file before deleting it ?

Hello Jerome, my taskcoach.ini is attached.

I tried a reinstall with TaskCoach.ini moved to a folder on a network drive. During the installation I got the error:

Error – creating ini entry in file C:\Program Files\TaskCoach\TaskCoach.url

In that folder there is a shortcut that is for the Internet but something is wrong with it. Its Properties do not show a URL and I cannot delete it, says I do not have privilege but I am Administrator on this system. When I tried to start TaskCoach after the install I received the same TaskCoach.exe.log as before.

My plan is to uninstall TaskCoach, reboot the PC, try to delete the shortcut if it is still there and try reinstallation again.

After doing the above the URL file was gone. I did not receive the error regarding the URL during installation. TaskCoach now starts!

I am able to point TaskCoach to the old TaskCoach.tsk and it does open. It looks pretty rough but I'll work on that - I have backups going back serveral months.

    Thank you for your help,
    Best Regards

I've committed a fix. Revision 5888 or newer at http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest_bugfixes.py if you'd like to test it.

You had selected an empty bitmap for one of the task statuses. Task Coach wasn't expecting that ;-)

    Thanks, Frank
