When we use effort tracking the TaskCoach main window is blinking (and this is VERY annoying).
As I understand, the problem is in refreshing time (effort) counters. To refresh counters TC refreshes UI (tree view in Tak window and list view in effort window) every second, so UI elements are blinking in Windows. I think, this is not necessary to update UI (effort time counters) every second - update it every minute - this will be enough (or make this configurable). Thank you.

If you make the time spent column invisible (and any other column that depends on time spent, such as budget left or revenue) the blinking should be gone, correct?

    Thanks, Frank

Not exactly. Main window blinking ever when effort-dependent columns are hidden. Please, see screnshot in attachment (file tcoach.png).

It starts blinking when I start effort tracking and stops when I stop tracking.

What version of Windows are you using? I haven't been able to reproduce this on Windows XP.

Also, can you please attach you TaskCoach.ini file to this bug report?

    Thanks, Frank

    Windows 7.
    TaskCoach.ini is attached.
Frank, thank you for your deep investigation of this problem.
    Alexey.

    Any progress in this direction?
    Can I help somehow?

Sorry, have been busy. I don't have Windows 7. In theory, you could help me by donating some money to buy Windows 7. However, I don't expect you to donate to whole 160 euro or so that it costs, so I'll try to reproduce the issue under Windows XP or Vista.

Can't reproduce on Vista either. Jérôme, do you have a computer with Windows 7 where you can try to reproduce this issue?

    Thanks, Frank

I can reproduce it on 7 Ultimate, 64 bits. The task view blinks every second, the calendar every minute; so this is the refresh. Funny thing is, the effort view does not seem to blink.

I'll try to set some extended window styles so that Windows performs double-buffering. Been there...

A fix was made and checked into the source code repository of Task Coach. The fix will be part of the next release. You will get another notification when that release is available with the request to install the new release and confirm that your issue has indeed been fixed.

If you like, you can download a recent build from http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest_bugfixes.py to test the fix.

Because a fix has been made for this bug report, the priority of this report has been lowered to 1 and its resolution has been set to 'Fixed'.

    Thanks, Task Coach development team

THANK YOU! No any blinking! Nice (and healthy for eyes)! Great work, thanks a lot.
