Hello everybody!

From time to time, as at the moment, clicking (and releasing, of course) any task switches the program in "drag"-mode, and every click afterwards is a placement of the last clicked task and a grip on the new task, which causes unwanted subtask-relations and other weird effects, until one realises what's happening. The only chance to get out of that mode is to end the program. Even if I manage to doubleclick a task to remove the dependencies (is that the English word? I got the German version) after getting it out of another task (why are these dependencies still there after dragging it out when it gets in by dragging it into a task?), the drag-and-drop happens even in that dependency-view in the task detail - sorry, who needs that?
At the moment my only chance is to open task coach, do a single change and close it again, before it gets messy. And that only to get all the flaws out I got in by that permanent dragging. There is no chance to actually work with it at the moment.
It would help if the escape-key would cancel dragging, but it doesn't.
At the moment, I have this problem on my linux computer - I'm not sure if I had this at the windows computer as well so far (I can check this on Monday earliest).
It's not a permanent problem, but it it occurs, restarting the program doesn't help. Might be even a combination of some OS-condition combined with a weakness of taskcoach. However, the rest of the computer seems to work fine during that.
I would really appreciate some help.

Best regards,
Wolfgang

...the problem just ended (for now). Seems to be somehow connected to touch screen effects.

Indeed, I have the same problem, and touch-screen is relevant to me too.

I had opened this support request where I attached a log file: https://sourceforge.net/p/taskcoach/support-requests/498/

Now that you are reproducing the error, that helps clarify. Unfortunately, as you see there, we're not likely to fix this until we update Task Coach to use a newer framework version.

Thankfully, I found that tapping on the touch-screen clears the drag hold and I can then operate again. So whenever this happens, I just touch my screen and then get back to work.

Prior to that, I found that if I click on the task that's gotten grabbed, specifically dropping it on itself essentially, it would sometimes release. But that wasn't as reliable as tapping the touch screen (which worked anywhere without actually altering the file).

I still found that each time this happened, there would be an error log, so sometimes I restart task coach after just to be cleaner, but it wasn't strictly necessary.

Hope that helps you function until we eventually update things.
