As the name said, the DB server (and also classical DS) crashes during their startup sequence if they
run on a host where the DNS is wrongly configured (or not configured)
A non-official workaround is to change the host name in /etc/hosts to contain a dot in it e.g. tango9vm.home. You will need to change the TANGO_HOST in /etc/tangorc as well . This is not a solution but in case you are stuck it does work. Tested on tango9 vm.
