Overview

TagTools for Linux is a package of Perl scripts which can be used to manipulate audio tags of various audio formats (MP3, OGG, FLAC etc).

In fact, it is an implementation of the Audio::TagLib library (http://search.cpan.org/dist/Audio-TagLib/lib/Audio/TagLib.pm), and provides it with a command-line and dialog-based interface. TagTools was written to work correctly with tags written in different codepages (utf8, cp1251 etc).

At first it designed as a clone of the Mp3Utils plugin for Far Manager in Windows, since I lacked it's functionality in Midnight Commander under Linux. It also turned out to be that most of my audio files tags were in CP1251 charset, and the tools like id3v2, flac and vorbistools didn't seem to process them correctly. TagTools was to be the solution. I use it for my music collection and hope that it may be of use for anyone else.

I would be glad to hear about any suggestions, bugs etc at vakorol#mail.ru (substitute # with @).
