excellent! mine's a cuppa workers, ta guv. if you check out and build 'tagbox' or 'all' you should get: build/tagbox.jar hurrah! unfortunately, there's no sample app and no documentation... what you may want to do instead is download xpath-perf.war from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=51425&release_id=89373 which is a very daft little webapp that you can drop into tomcat. then there's the option of getting a local copy of the bullet... or building a new app from scratch! it's pretty easy, i'll be happy to lend a hand or two. /m On 7 Jun 2002, Glen Barnes wrote: > muppet. i'm sure i set that... > > well it works now. who's up for tea? You might want to try and set up your CVS_RSH env... export CVS_RSH=ssh if you haven't done so. Also I don't bother with the -t -z3 and it works fine for me. Finally the error message you get is the failure I see when using WinCVS...! > -----Original Message----- > From: tag...@li... > [mailto:tag...@li...]On Behalf Of Glen > Barnes > Sent: 07 June 2002 09:01 > To: Martin Klang > Cc: tag...@li... > Subject: RE: [tagbox-discuss] Re: Join team > > > So now I get this: > > [barnacle@lola tagbox]$ cvs -t -z3 > -d:ext:bar...@cv...:/cvsroot/tagbox co > tagbox > -> main loop with > CVSROOT=:ext:bar...@cv...:/cvsroot/tagbox > -> Starting server: rsh cvs.tagbox.sourceforge.net -l barnaclebarnes > cvs server > usw-pr-cvs.sourceforge.net: Connection refused > cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages > if any) > > > is there any special way to setup SSH? > > /b > On Thu, 2002-06-06 at 23:12, ma...@ha... wrote: > > > > ssh into cvs.sourceforge.net > > it'll kick you out immediately, but create the userdir. > > > > silly, i know. > > > > /m > > > > On 6 Jun 2002, Glen Barnes wrote: > > > > > So, i logged into my sheel account on sf.net.... > > > > > > i logged into > > > shell1.sourceforge.net > > > tagbox.sourceforge.net > > > shell.sourceforge.net > > > > > > All worked OK. Hiya, I've been doing a performance comparison of the Jaxen, Xalan and TagBox XPath engines, the results of which can be seen here: http://www.pingdynasty.com/~mars/xpath/ The study is based on the work done previously by the dom4j people. What i wanted to do was to compare the TagBox XPath engine with Xalan and Jaxen, but found that there was such a huge difference in performance of different versions of Xalan that i included two of them. I'm sending this mail to the dev community in order to give you all a chance to comment on the study before it is publicly announced - any and all comments are very welcome! kind regards, /m |

okkee, i've set up some bug groups/categories/etc - thanks for the suggestions, they're much appreciated. think you _should_ write a book on how to manage a sourceforge project! david says your build prob is due to a fuct Ant version. dunno, i'll have a look later on. the xalan.java should die anyhow, i just put it together to compare xalan's xpath results to mine. /m On Tue, 23 Apr 2002, Bilton, Sasha wrote: > With your permission, I'll take on the mantle of a clueless user. With your permission, I'll take on the mantle of a clueless user. Getting
stuff out of CVS, trying to build it, following any docs that come along and
generally trying to break the system, before others get to it. So I removed
my tagbox dir and checked it out again, then used ant to build. I got to
this before it failed.
xpath.compile:
[javac] Compiling 127 source files to
/home/admin/tagbox/tagbox/build/classes
[javac]
/home/admin/tagbox/tagbox/src/org/tagbox/xpath/parser/xalan.java:41:
incompatible types
[javac] found : org.apache.xpath.NodeSetDTM
[javac] required: org.w3c.dom.traversal.NodeIterator
[javac] NodeIterator it = result.mutableNodeset();
[javac] ^
[javac] 1 error
I do have various XML jars in my classpath, but without more investigation
this doesn't look like a namespace problem as the two classes are wildly
different.
Once the bug tracking system is set up (may I suggest the categories build,
source code, XML, scripts, site) I'll submit these sort of things to that.

Worked like a charm once I'd changed build.compiler from jikes to modern in the ant file. Hurrah! > -----Original Message----- > From: ma...@ha... sasha - could you get an update from cvs pls and try again. doesn't have the org.w3c.dom i/fs in the libs, but they should be available with most any jdk these days. the default ant target, and the only one that will build, is 'util' if it builds see if you can run java -cp build/classes org/tagbox/util/test/MinMaxPoolTest let me know how it goes - /m On Wed, 17 Apr 2002, Bilton, Sasha wrote: > Ok so what do I need to get ant to compile? > > > ********************************************************************** > Information in this email is confidential and may be privileged. > It is intended for the addressee only. ant, that should be it. what errors do you get? damn that logger... and then the DOM - shit, there are more dependancies than i thought.. okay, i cleared the CLASSPATH before i built it myself and it worked fine. but i didn't clear the JIKESPATH!! damn, sorry - working on it now. i'll have to remove the Log stuff or replace with a reasonable log package. as the one in jdk1.4 maybe. run ant in the tagbox lib, where build.xml lives. at the moment there's only utils and the config subsystem in cvs. i plan to add and release the xpath engine next, before moving on to doing the full-blown tagbox. i also noticed the cvs commits aren't showing up. how do i submit such a support request then? /m On Wed, 17 Apr 2002, Bilton, Sasha wrote: > Ok so what do I need to get ant to compile? > > > ********************************************************************** > Information in this email is confidential and may be privileged. > It is intended for the addressee only. Hello!!! I've successfully updated org.tagbox.config.Info.java in CVS on tagbox. So any problems Andy is having maybe down too... 1. WinCVS - Never got this to work as a developer on SF. I copy all my files over to a Linux account and then update/commit from there. 2. Developers have to login to SSH into cvs.sourceforge.net at least ONCE. Not cvs.tagbox.sf, but cvs.sourceforge.net. This got me first time round. It creates a home account for you somewhere. 3. I found openSSH a little difficult to install. Hopefully it's one of these - let me know what the error is otherwise. Also, I notice that you've logged no CVS commits or adds. There is a bug in SF which means you have to create a support request to have this 'fixed' stupid huh! ********************************************************************** Information in this email is confidential and may be privileged.
