Taekwindow fails to start giving the message:
"This application has failed to start because the applicaation configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

The system involved is a seemingly normal Windows XP Pro SP2 English. The .net framework does not seem to be installed; so this may be the issue (is this version already dependant on it?), however the error message is unfortunate. Perhaps an installer would mitigate the issue by requesting the user to install the framework.

Installing the .NET framework fixes the issue.

As far as I know, there is no .NET dependency yet. However, you're not the first to report this problem. Could you install the .NET platform and let me know if it fixes the problem? Thanks!

According to the following web sites:

    http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=23261

    and

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235291\(VS.80).aspx

the problem appears to be that the Visual Studio runtime is not installed. Seems to usually be something like "msvc*80.dll". I have Visual Studio installed on another computer where taekwindow works, but not on this one, where I get the above error. Any chance of an updated release with the appropriate dlls so I can use it anywhere from my USB stick?

    Thanks!

I hope the issue is fixed in the current development version. However, I have no way to test this apart from a clean XP install. But .NET will be a dependency for the next release anyway.

The problem was indeed with the C Runtime Library, MSVCR80.DLL. Details can be found in my rant here:

The problem has now definitely been fixed in the development version, which I hope to release today or otherwise next week.
