CAP_STATS

CAP_STATS is an experimental feature of Syslogd2.

As such, it is still very much under-implemented and minimally tested. Much of the implementation of statistics generation within Syslogd2 (as well as how to display those statistics) has yet to be fully thought through or implemented. For now, the statistics are integrated into the WHATIF display generated through the command-tool when CAP_STATS, CAP_WHATIF, CAP_COMMAND, CAP_STREAMIN and CAP_HOUSEKEEPING are all declared at compile-time.
The idea behind it is that as Syslogd2 configurations have become more complex and (potentially) confusing, a means is necessary to produce some performance statistics that can be used to provide feedback to administrators and users to use in understanding various performance levels of FIFO queues and traffic levels through various thread-pools. These values in turn would be used to adjust FIFO sizes and/or thread-counts and/or thread-pool membership of input or output connections.

User feedback and comments are welcome -- especially regarding what statistics (or display methods) would be useful to collect.

There are no run-time setting associated with CAP_STATS.
