hi, i've an asus g2s with syntek camera, i'm using ubuntu 9.04 beta with 2.6.28-11 kernel.
I've downloaded the 1.4.0 version, compiled with "make -f Makefile.standalone" compile gone fine, then i've tried to copy the stk11xx.ko into /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/drivers...." dir, tried also

    modprobe videodev
    insmod ./stk11xx.ko

but it always say "error inserting module, unknow symbol".

    dmesg:
    [  124.132333] stk11xx: disagrees about version of symbol video_devdata
    [  124.132342] stk11xx: Unknown symbol video_devdata

ok, reinstalled kernel so different version of videodev gone away.
Compiled and module loaded fine, now, dmesg is:

      [ 2051.262391] stk11xx: Syntek USB2.0 webcam driver startup
[ 2051.262474] usbcore: registered new interface driver usb_stk11xx_driver
      [ 2051.263853] stk11xx: v1.3.1 : Syntek USB Video Camera

where is the problem? There is no /dev/video0 file.
But if I load uvcvideo dmesg is

      [ 3175.038771] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB 2.0 Camera (174f:5a35)
      [ 3175.039863] input: USB 2.0 Camera as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0/input/input12
[ 3175.051322] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
      [ 3175.051331] USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0)

so it seems that stk11xx module doesn't load drivers for my webcam. There are its details:

      Any help???

Now, installed 2.6.29.1 kernel, compiled from svn, modprobe videodev and insmod ./stk11xx.ko, and dmesg is the same:

      [  397.661195] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
      [  408.424255] stk11xx: Syntek USB2.0 webcam driver startup
[  408.424340] usbcore: registered new interface driver usb_stk11xx_driver
      [  408.424770] stk11xx: v2.0.0 : Syntek USB Video Camera

and still no camera found. What i've to do?!?!!??
