[Sync4j-announce] Funambol v6.5 reaches General Availability (GA)

Dear Funambol Community:

 

Funambol is pleased to announce that Funambol v6.5 is now Generally
Available (GA). The software can be downloaded from our web site at
http://www.funambol.com/opensource/downloads.php or from the ObjectWeb
(OW2) forge at
http://forge.objectweb.org/project/showfiles.php?group_id=96.

 

Funambol v6.5 incorporates many new features and improvements, but to just
highlight some:

- Major "Push" improvements to enable TCP/IP Push Email and PIM on all
mobile operator networks

- Significantly improved Windows Mobile Plug-in

- Significantly improved Java ME Email Client now running on virtually all
Nokia, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson handsets (~250 handsets)

- Introduction of contact photo synchronization (i.e. contact's photos are
now synchronized amongst Outlook, Windows Mobile Plugin, the Portal and
many mobile handsets)

- Improved time zone handling

- Dozens of new synclets for improved synchronization of contacts and
calendar with a wider range of handsets

- Updated portal sign-up and profile with focus on Mobile Email

- High-availability architecture for all of the Funambol server components

- Management tools for monitoring the availability and load of the system

 

Most of these features are in the open source Community Edition that can
be downloaded now, while some of the more advanced features are in the
commercial Carrier Edition.
