Ciao,
  error http 407 means proxy authentication required. This means
probably that you are connecting to the server passing through a proxy
server, even if it seems the server you are connecting to is within
your local network.
If you are using Thunderbird on Windows, it uses the proxy settings of
Internet Explorer, and thus you can tell not to use proxy for local
addresses and so on. For the Android emulator (are you using that or
a real device?) it should be the same but actually I never test it
myself.
Did you see the frames going to a proxy in the plain wireshark dump?
