Theres a plugin that synces Google calendar with Lightning for 
Thunderbird so if you can get funambol to sunc. the calendars in the 
phone and Lightning. Then maybe you can get the phone and google synced. 
via Lightning.

I'm new as well, so I can't give you a technical explanation.
