Hi all
I've just gone from 0.2.1a to 0.3.0 and the improvement is outstanding!More precisely, I'm really happy with the fact that now I get good information about the date and length of songs on my A1000, whereas before I only had songs from year 0000 that lasted 3:30! By the way, I'm on MacOS, and I had the same problems on my iMac with Leopard 10.5.6 as well as my Macbook with Tiger 10.4.11.
I'm talking about this because there's still a small issue-> BUG REPORTwith previous versons when I transferred song genre was systematically "(No Name)" ; now, it's "(20)" so basically I still have no information about genres.
Tags are iTunes 8 tags.

ps. I didn't get the joke with Ode to Freedom... isn't that supposed to be Ode to joy?

As first code name (for version 0.3.0) I really like what Paulo proposed "Ode to freedom" (Beethoven 9th symphony). We think it perfect fits JSymphonic since it frees us from SonicStage !!
So if anybody do not agree, just tell. If not, it will be the code name of next stable version.

3) JSymphonic website is online

As you knew, JSymphonic has a website. Now, the website has a theme, which colors match the ones from the logo. I also try to fill in as possible the content so that we are only going to use this website, and not the Sourceforge page.


You'll find on the website:
- news
- a presentation
- downloads
- screenshots
- a documentation
- faq
- the new forum
- a contact us page
- code source links
- a how to join page
- a GPL page


So far, the only page which needs to be updated is the documentation one. But I'm waiting v0.3.0b to do so.

I closed the Wiki, the documentation and the forum on Sourceforge pages.

1) Few words about JSymphonic roadmap:

- Version 0.3.0a1: released on december the 25th of 2008

- Version 0.3.0a2: released on march the 10th of 2009


- Version 0.3.0 pre-beta: is quite ready to be released, here is what's missing:
     > some details are to be fixed in the GUI 
     > the Atrac support for 3rd generation have to be tested (I'm waiting for reports from gen3 owners)


     > the language files have to be integrated into the online translation tool (I will inform translators as soon as it will be ready).
This version will be in english only


- Version 0.3.0b: will be the same as 0.3.0 pre-beta with ALL translations

- Version 0.3.0 stable: will be the same as 0.3.0b with all bug fixes needed


You can start right now to report any bug from the last build you'll find in the repository:

Every single bug or bad behaviour has to be reported!! The goal is to end up with a stable and coherent version!!

2) JSymphonic code name discussions

We started a discussion in the developers forum about naming stable version of JSymphonic. Here is the way JSymphonic will be called:
  "JSymphonic 0.3.0a" for alpha (unstable) versions 
  "JSymphonic 0.3.0b" for beta (testing) versions 


  "JSymphonic 0.3.0 name" for stable version 
(the second number is for features improvements, the third one for bug fixes)

But we need to find names to use to call stable version.

The names should respect some rules:


 - version name should be a single word 
 - version name should not contains special characters "é,è,..." 
 - we are developing a software under GPL, we should not advertise for this or that thing


The idea  is to choose a theme, and pick names in accordance.


So far, we have proposed the 3 themes (and corresponding names) that you can read below.


I'm asking to all of you to:
- propose other themes and names if you have ideas
- vote for the theme you like.




Once a theme will be picked, we will vote for the name of version 0.3.0.

     THEME 1)  "Symphony names" since the name of the program is JSymphonic, we can use names from famous symphony. The problem is that symphonies were often named with numbers... However, here are some names of symphony usable:

     THEME 3) "names from music", we can just pick names of Albums or Titles we love. This them is a little bit ambiguous because we have to keep in mind that the code name should be a single word (or a couple...) and we should be careful about the sense it carries... In my opinion, it is not correct to pick the name of the last album of Britney Spears... It's different than talking about symphony composers dead since 200 years... These composers and symphonies belong to general culture and entertainement...
