Welcome to Syllog!

What is it?

Syllog is a system for teaching various forms of argumentation, including Aristotelian syllogistic logic.

There are two parts to the system:

  • A student-facing Java-Applet running in the student's browser. This is a simple quiz which gives the student questions to answer.
  • A teacher-oriented Django/Python-web-application running on a server. This is for
anonymous logging of student answers in the Java-Applet.

The system has been developed at Aalborg University, Denmark, by Professor, Dr. Peter Øhrstrøm and Dr. Ulrik Sandborg-Petersen, in collaboration with Professor, Dr. Thomas Ploug and Associate Professor, Dr. Steinar Thorvaldsen, the latter of the University of Tromsø, Norway.
