Syllable has always pulled these kinds of stunts on me. They always 
happen after upgrading or installing a new version. Some things, in the 
GUI or anywhere else, will work weird and then disappear after some reboots.

Earth radiation and atom decay must be involved. I'm glad it's 
confirmed, because I never dared make bug reports out of it for fear of 
image damage. :-)
