From the stack trace this happens in GeckoEditor.<init> -> EditingSessionHelper.makeEditable

I'm on RHEL 5 with an eclipse 3.4.1 platform.

Further info... It works on one similar machine with a few additional updates and a later version of firefox.
Can anyone tell me if the Composer control has external dependencies?

Hi, it has standard library dependencies and tested to work fine on ubuntu 8.10 and RH4.
You could check the list of dependencies by "ldd <library>.so" on each file in linux.x86_64 fragment.
