Hi volks,
I wrote a small shell script, that collects the uptime value from the network switches in one html page. Going down the row, I noticed that there are no values higher than 496 days. If you look on the switch by cli you see the correct value. I'd like to request a change to display the correct value for the snmp uptime.
Best regards
Ralf

I think you're misinterpreting the "Days inactive" field. It has nothing to
do with the SNMP uptime value.

Days inactive is a counter that Switchmap maintains for each port. It
starts counting on the first day that you started running SwitchMap.That's
why none of the values are greater than 496: you probably installed
SwitchMap 496 days ago. Days inactive is a hint about how long a given port
has been inactive, and therefore how available the port might be to be used
for a new purpose. In other words, when you want to connect some new device
to a switch, you need to select an unused port. You can look in SwitchMap
for a port with a high "days inactive" value.

The SNMP uptime is a different thing. It is a counter built-in to SNMP.
There is only one SNMP uptime counter for the whole switch. SwitchMap does
not use it in any way.

    Hi Pete,

thanks for your explanation. I am confused about the uptime of the switch. The webinterface shows more than 4 years and the max I can find in switchmap is 496days. Hope the 2 screenshots as attachment shows the difference.

    Best regards
    Ralf
