#2 Voicemail box lights MWI light but can not access mail

I have used the voicemail mailbox option under extensions to have extensions share voicemail mailboxes. The message waiting light works on the extension that has an alternate mailbox number, but when checking mail, asterisk responds that there isn't any. Running IP01 firmware rev 471.
