Another one of my stupid questions, and a bit off-topic: For bureaucratic reasons (as one Mr.Wolfowitz would say in order to start a war), I have to use WAV, at 48 KHz/16-bit, so-called "DAT quality" (for radio). At least, that's what the client - all-M$; and they throw ttheir money (our money, it's a "public" broadcaster) by wagonloads out the Windo$ - wants to have. Following that, I record OB sound in that format. The result is _huge_ files which have to be loaded up - add another 50 % for net/BASE64 encoding. Not funny, even if I'd had broadband (which I haven't, yet). As much as I understand it, Sweep works with an own "internal" format. (And likewise in my understanding, this does only exist when a file is in memory.) Thus it could be converted/compressed to this'n'that other format as well. Maybe the "client" (argh - big bureaucracy hiding behind so-called "technical" pretexts) may be convinced nevertheless to accept a format which would reduce file volume/transmission time by some solid factor - without "quality loss" (that's their argument). Which could that be ? // Heimo Claasen // <hammer at revobild dot net> // Brussels 2003-08-31 The WebPlace of ReRead - and much to read ==> http://www.revobild.net |

Sweep's internal format is 32 bit float which is roughly double the size of 16bit WAV. When that gets mime encoded ti wil be double the size of the mime encoded 16 bit WAV.
