here's a tarball featuring editable accels should anyone want to test it. (please do ;) you can change accels via the usual gtk method of hovering the mouse over a menu item and pressing the desired key combo. http://www.zenadsl6252.zen.co.uk/sweep-0.9.1-SVN-436.tar.bz2 there's more that could be done in some areas (a key binding editor dialog for example) but as this is a stopgap solution that will be replaced with GtkActions and GtkUIManager soon, i think i'll leave it at that for now. accels are saved in ~/sweep/keybindings automatically on exit and loaded at startup if they exist. cheers, pete. |

Hi list, (sorry for the late reply - I was on vacation for a week), On Fri, 20 Oct 2006 20:11:50 +0100 pete <zen...@ze...> wrote: > here's a tarball featuring editable accels should anyone > want to test it. Hmm..well, the saving of settings in the ~/.sweep/keybindings file works, but apart from that I do not see a lot of change yet. I tried to modify Zoom In/ Out in the "expected" way, but neither did the new shortcut display in the menu item change, nor did the saved keybindings file reflect this. I also tried changing the value in the keybindings file, but it seems this is ignored by the application when I restart it. Is there something I don't know about - minimal required Gtk2.x version, ./configure option or anything else? Thanks anyway for addressing this request at all :-). Greetings, Frank |

(i believe you would need to do this for editing to work with most if not all gtk apps. so if other apps work, it's probably not that) to enable it, run gconf-editor and browse to /desktop/gnome/interface and toggle the "can_change_accels" value > Is there something I don't know about - minimal required Gtk2.x version, > ./configure option or anything else? not that i'm aware of. cheers, pete. |

Yes, that does indeed help. Cool - I have never before come across the gconf-editor..there is always something to learn. Key assignments are correctly written to the keybindings file, so "thumbs up" on this one, Pete. Thanks. Greetings, Frank |
