SwarmCache is a simple but effective distributed caching system for Java. It synchronizes caches over a LAN via multicast. This release is mostly a clean-up. It upgrades support for JavaGroups to the latest version (JGroups 2.2). If no major issues are identified in this release, then it will be promoted to version 1.0.
SwarmCache is a simple but effective distributed caching system for Java. It synchronizes caches over a LAN via multicast. This release cleans up the code base. There are very few functionality changes. The main addition is the HybridCache. This caching algorithm combines the benefits of the LRU and Automatic caching algorithms.
If this release does not generate any bugs/issues, it will be promoted to 1.0final.
SwarmCache is a simple, yet powerful distributed caching mechanism for Java. It uses IP multicast to efficiently communicate between caching instances. It is ideal for radically improving the performance of clustered web applications.
This release is a fully-functional beta. No bugs are known, but it has not seen a lot of time in production systems. However, SwarmCache is based on a caching engine that has been in use for some time in production, so we are quite confident with its performance.
