I'm willing to build an usb radio interface for svxlink around an arduino
board. The idea is to control TX PTT, report RX SQL status, RX signal
level back to svxlink over usb connection (RS232 can also be used to
connect the arduino to the pc).
The aurdino board is seen as a serial device in linux (/dev/ttyACMx) so
is needed that svxlink can exchange information with the interface using a
serial ascii protocol instead of serial control lines. For example, a very
simple serial ascii protocol: to control ptt send the "T" character to the
interface to turn tx on and "R" to get back to rx. The interface can send
"S" to indicate open squelch and "I" to signal idle receiver. Siglev can be
sent as "Lxxx" where xxx is a relative value from 0 to 255..
To further improve the interface, a tx temp sensor can be added and from
that a fan can be controlled, DC power voltage sensing, AC line failure
detection...etc This info can also be fed to svxlink to, for example,
change the courtesy tone when there's no AC power or the tx temp is too
