Beginning with Subversion 1.8, BDB repository backend has been deprecated: http://subversion.apache.org/docs/release-notes/1.8.html#bdb-deprecated

I think that it makes sense at least to place a note about this fact at http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.8/svn.reposadmin.planning.html#svn.reposadmin.basics.backends However, I'd like to restructure the section so that FSFS should be described first, BDB second and to make it clear for a reader that starting with SVN 1.8 "choosing a data store" should not be a question. (New) users should use FSFS unless they have some special case.

I've mostly purged Chapter 5 of Berkeley DB stuff, moving that collection of knowledge into a new "Appendix D: The Berkeley DB Legacy Filesystem".
