Version Control With Subversion Source

[1.0 branch]: Merge in a change relevant to the 1.0 line.

Merge r687 into this branch.

Make the 1.0 branch layout match that of trunk.

Branch for changes specific to the Subversion 1.0 book stuffs.

Tag the revision we handed to O'Reilly as the English 1.0 beta book version.

Remove the misc-docs.

Commit a top-skim of the German translation. (I missed it during dump/load,
and flatly refuse to wrestle with svndumpfilter for another eight hours).

Promote translations to first-class status, and use two-letter locale
doodads for organization.
