i cant export any data, the export annotation layer is always off, not sure if the problen is that i can't make any layer current. been struggling for a few hours with this. thanks
This seems to be working for me. To make a layer current, either click on its tab in the property box area to the right (see attached image) or use the "{" and "}" key shortcuts to cycle through the layers until the correct one is active.
Note that only some types of layers count as annotations that can be exported. Layers created by running a transform (such as an analysis plugin) or created as empty layers for interactive annotation can be exported. The built-in spectrogram layers cannot.

thanks chris. it was my mistake. i suggest stating the info on the second paragraph of your answer in the reference manual. best diego
