#160 Delay between 'play/pause' and actually playing/stopping

In the latest version (1.8) of Sonic Visualiser, the delay between pressing the "start audio" button and actually playing/pausing the sound stream is now quite long (~1 s) compared to the latest 1.7 version. I use Windows 7 on a tablet PC with an Intel L7400/i945gm processor/chipset. In 1.7... the delay is quite small, while it is a bit annoying in 1.8.
