    Hello.

First I'd like to thank everyone who's been involved with taking the SubtitleWorkshop project forward.

I've performed a clean installation of Microsoft Windows 8.1.
Could one of the developers or experienced users point me to the best codec software, in terms of having a minimum (settings & alterations) impact on my Operating System?

Trying to avoid bloated codec packs as much as possible.

Many thanks for those who could point me in the right direction.

    Regards,

I have no experience with Win 8, but I'm using the K-Lite codec packs, and I'm pretty happy with it. Just do a custom install instead of a quick one and inspect all the option carefully.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "impact on your system", you're installing the codecs on your system... They will become default for various video formats (you can select which ones, and you can modify those settings later). But many programs require external codecs anyway, it's not just Subtitle Workshop.

However, many video players can also use internal codecs and no codec pack will change the behavior of those players (unless you change it yourself in the player's settings).
