Hello Everyone! I have this same problem and I was wondering if I should work with another software to create subtitles and use this only for edition
I've attached a print screen with the error.

I think installing K-Lite Codec Pack solves most video-related errors in SW. http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

Does not work with any video format , I have version 6.0 " is not a valid video file"
