OS : Windows 7

Activity : Not supporting mp4 video format
Problem : Hello, when i choose to open a .mp4 file to check if the subtitles are synced with the video, i get this error : "D:..(path of the video)..\NameOfVideo.mp4" is not a valid video file. Any suggestions?

Is it a bug or it's not working only for me? Anyone has the same problem?

I have the same problem. Have been working in installing various codecs to try to get around it.

Renaming the file extension is going to acheive absolutely nothing. I've had various problems with Subtitle Workshop rejecting valid video files ( generally MKVs), in those cases I've used AVIDemux to dumb them down into AVI files ( XVID video codec, MP3 for audio ), they've been foolproof so far.

Yeah i tested many .avi files and they work fine. The .mp4 files are rejected even while this format is quite usable

I ran my .mp4 file (The Global Warming War from vimeo) through Avidemux, with 'copy' for both video and audio, using the 'AVI muxer' (default) as output format.
Then it worked.

Hello there!
just install Media Player Codec Pack and it's gonna work
You can download it from here: https://www.mediaplayercodecpack.com/
Try renaming the file from .mp4 to .mkv
Still the same , i did convert it too but the problem remains. I tried with another videos(.mp4 and .mkv formats) but i got the same error

I've just had exactly the same problem - I have fixed it by installing "lavfilters": https://code.google.com/p/lavfilters/
